Description

Social Emotional Considerations for AT and Student Advocacy

In this presentation, we will delve into critical topics for staff supporting students using Assistive Technology (AT). We’ll explore the importance of social-emotional considerations and discuss why some students may feel embarrassed or uncomfortable using AT in the classroom. We’ll cover strategies to teach self-awareness and self-advocacy, and offer methods to encourage participation and normalize the use of AT. Additionally, we will highlight the value of mentorship, support systems, and address ways to support students in crisis. Join us to gain practical insights and tools to support AT and create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.
